Reminiscing Theme Nights: Animal Crossing

The year before last I had started doing ‘theme nights’ for my friends and I. I would pick a theme, typically based around a game series or anime, and create a menu and activities to go along with it! 

The themes we were able to enjoy so far include Animal Crossing, Mario Day, Coraline, and Sailor Moon!

Of course, as adults it can be difficult to schedule a time when everyone can get together. Due to this, theme nights have been on pause, but I still like to think about them from time to time. 

Today is one of those days where I like to reminisce, specifically about my first theme night~

Animal Crossing Theme Night

Not only was the first night Animal Crossing themed, but it was also summer festival themed! I felt it was the perfect way to end the summer with friends. To prepare, I cooked up the menu I created (with the help of my mom~), made perler sprites of my friend’s favorite Animal Crossing Characters, created a playlist, set up my Nintendo Switch, and decorated everything. 

I also invited my friends to dress as their favorite AC characters! The character I had chosen was Maple :) 

The Menu

For an Animal Crossing Summer Festival, I took inspiration from Japanese festival foods!My menu consisted of:

• Karaage

• Corn on the cob

• Yakitori

• Watermelon

• Fries

• Watermelon

• Vacation Juice (from Animal Crossing Pocket Camp)

• Candy apples

Once everyone came over, we had dinner while the playlist I created played on the TV. Everything turned out great, which was a relief! Karaage and Yakitori were both things I hadn’t made before. I think the karaage was my favorite ദ്ദി ( ᵔ ᗜ ᵔ )

For the rest of the night we all played Animal Crossing New Horizons, where we visited each others’ islands. It was a great time, and a great first theme night!
