Springtime brings such light and energetic feelings! So that means it's the perfect time for anime with some of the same vibes~ Today I’m going to share some of my favorite anime to watch in spring! Some may seem a bit dated, but that time has yet to replace the feelings these series give!

Fruits Basket (Either Rendition!)

Fruits Basket is definitely at the top of my list when considering springtime anime. While we do get to see our characters in various seasons throughout the series, its heartwarming tones are perfect to uplift your spirits with the new season!

In Fruits Basket, we follow an orphan girl named Tohru who becomes entangled within the lives of the Soma family once learning of their family curse. Behind the curse is a dark history of fear and pain within the family. However, Tohru strives to break the curse and heal the Soma family so they can live happily.

The strong bonds formed between not only Tohru and the Soma family, but between the family members themselves, can cause the heart to swell and appreciate things in life. As the characters strive for new beginnings, we can appreciate the new starts we can find with each spring! Making this one of the best anime to view during springtime.

Ouran High School Host Club

Ouran High School Host Club naturally comes to mind with its lighthearted comedy, and (of course) the ever existing cherry blossoms seen throughout the setting. During this romantic comedy, it’s hard not to feel good when laughing and following the antics of our main characters that is the Host Club.

Haruhi Fujioka is a scholarship student at the prestigious Ouran Academy, a high school for the elite(rich). On her first day, Haruhi knocks over an expensive vase when peering into an unused music room that serves as the Host Club’s club room. To pay off her debt, Haruhi becomes a host herself after being mistaken for a boy! As she works for the Host Club, she and the other members learn more about each other, and even develop some feelings.

This series brings a lot of laughs and heartwarming moments. With the light themes and beautiful setting of the academy, this series sets the perfect spring tone!

Horimiya

I first watched Horimiya in the fall, but it definitely is more suited for a springtime viewing! A story of a blossoming new relationship is ideal during this time of year.

Horimiya focuses on the relationship that develops between two very different people, Hori Kyouko is a high school student who is smart, beautiful, and popular amongst her peers. Seemingly opposite to her is Miyamura Izumi, a student who keeps to himself and has a nerdy and gloomy appearance.

One day, when Hori’s younger brother (whom she cares for) comes home with a nosebleed accompanied by classmate Miyamura the two of them realize their school personas are much different than who they really are. After this realization, the two decide to keep their identities a secret from their peers. As they spend more time together, they learn more about each other and become closer-leading to a new romance

This heartwarming and cute show highlights that people are not always what they seem, and we may get along with them more than we think! It also shows that we can find love in some unlikely places~

Clannad

Clannad makes its way through the four seasons, but the feelings of springtime stand out the most. Like Fruits Basket, this show does deal with some darker issues, but the heartwarming elements and light at the end of each tunnel brings hope and an overwhelming positive outlook to what may come our way.

High school delinquent Tomoya Okazaki one day comes across Nagisa Furukawa, a shy student who attends the same school. After this first encounter, Tomoya realizes he is recognizing Nagisa around school more and more. After getting to know her, he learns that Nagisa is trying to revive the school drama club. He then begins to help her, and they make new friends along the way. Tomoya then helps each of their new friends with their troubles and grows their relationships.

The growth of each character and the positive outcomes for each of them expresses the wonderful idea that we can always change our lives and ourselves for the better. Like spring brings new life and beginnings in general, we can think of our own new beginnings.

Chobits

Chobits is the last series I would like to recommend for springtime viewing.

In an age where everyone has their own humanoid computer, called a Persocom, Hideki Motosuwa is a poor country boy-turned prep school student who only wishes he could have one. When coming home one night, he discovers a discarded Persocom in his trash and makes the decision to take it home. Once she is booted up, she can only ‘chi,’ which Hideki then names her.

Hideki then takes the time to try and teach Chi new words and life things, as they both develop feelings for each other. However, as Chi is a computer one would think this is impossible. Hideki develops new friendships as he searches for answers and comes to terms with his feelings for Chi.

The inspiring message that love can overcome many impossibilities makes the heart swell and creates a feeling of encouragement and hope for many. With some light-hearted slice of life elements and beautiful art (like Chi’s beautiful dresses), this anime creates the perfect spring atmosphere!

I hope you find one of these recommendations enjoyable during this spring! If you really love them, I highly suggest you check out their manga counterparts as well~

Until next time!

Your friend,

Cassy ˗ˋˏ ♡ ˎˊ˗
